It's Time to Clean your Fridge

The kitchen’s holy grail is the good ‘ole refrigerator. The yummy treats, leftover food, can’t-wait-to-drink beverages, and more are home to one of the largest kitchen appliances. Regular cleaning and maintenance is important simply because our food and drinks are kept there. Here are a few simple steps to make your fridge cleaning even smoother. Remember to clean your fridge at least once per month.

Start with the old - Empty the fridge and throw away all expired items. Wipe underneath jars and containers that are dirty or sticky. Remove old food. Place existing food on shelves and tables, or store it in a cooler with ice to keep it from getting too warm.

Remove shelves and drawers - wipe them down with hot, soapy water. Use a combination of 2 tablespoons of baking soda + 1 cup of hot water to sanitize the inside of the fridge. Vinegar can also be added to the mix to tackle grime and grease. Dry shelves and drawers.

Place foods, jars, and containers back into the refrigerator.

Use the same method to clean out the freezer.

Wipe down the outside of a fridge and freezer with the appropriate cleaning equipment. Depending on if the exterior is stainless steel or not, research the best cleaning solution so that it’s not scratched or ruined while cleaning.

These simple steps ensures that your fridge stays sanitized, clean and healthy!
