The Do’s and Don'ts of Bathroom Cleaning

We spend a significant amount of time in our bathrooms. Keeping a clean, tidy, hygienic

sanctuary is vital, especially if you have children. Bathrooms can also be home to different fungi, bacteria, mold, dirt, and grime. Below are some tips to help make your cleaning experience pleasant!

Do:

  • Keep the bathroom clean and clean up after yourself. Creating a cleaning schedule is a great way to ensure bathroom cleanliness. Dirt, grime, fungus, and bacteria can build up and cause an unhygienic environment.

  • Make sure to wash your shower liner a minimum of 4x per year.

  • Deep Clean your showerhead! Mix baking soda and vinegar inside a gallon zip-lock bag.

  • Place the bag over the shower head and let it sit overnight!

  • Clean high-touch areas such as lights, door knobs, faucet handles, and toilet handles.

  • Use different sponges for different surfaces.

  • Use the right products/tools for different areas.

  • Clean your mirrors

Don't:

  • Go weeks without cleaning your bathroom. Bathrooms are breeding grounds for germs and bacteria. Regular, weekly cleaning is necessary.

  • Wipe surfaces right away. Many cleaning products need time to accomplish their tasks. Read the back label to determine the amount of time to allow a product to rest on the surface.

  • Allow wet, dirty towels to linger in the bathroom. Make sure there’s proper ventilation and airflow in the bathroom.

  • Put a toilet bowl brush immediately into the holder after cleaning. Instead, spray it with disinfectant, and allow it to drip dry or soak it in a bleach and water mixture.

  • Forget to dust.

Happy Cleaning!
